O'Chiese First Nation

On October 21st, Allan Littlejohn, the band manager of the O’Chiese First Nation, came to share his knowledge of the historical way of life of the Saulteaux people with the Grade 7 and 8 classes of Spruce View School. Students are learning about the contributions of First Nations to the Canadian indentity pre-Confederation and we welcomed the learning opportunity to have a local expert share about a regional First Nation group.

Students interviewed Mr. Littlejohn about traditional First Nations shelter, diet, and cultural celebrations, and also about how life has changed on the O’Chiese First Nation and what life is like in the modern context.

Spruce View School thanks Mr. Littlejohn for coming to speak to these classes on one of his days off, and provide insight into the First Nation perspective
